Slots Available:
Your server's motherboard has a limited number of slots available for RAM. Each slot can hold one stick of ram. Ram comes in either 1 GB ot 2 GB sticks. If your server only accommodates 2 slots
for RAM, the maximum RAM your selected server an hold is up to 4 GB of RAM. This would be 2 Sticks of RAM, each stick containing 2 GB of RAM. If you need additional RAM, please try a higher-end
server which have more available slots.
About The Backup Drive
We strongly recommend usage of a backup hard drive. If your primary hard drive fails it is possible to loose all of your data. While a backup drive does not protect 100% against total data loss,
it is an extremely effective counter-measure.
Whats Included?
Should you elect for a backup drive we will configure your system to make nightly backups for you as part of the managed service offered by GlowHost.com.
What Size Drive Should I Choose?
We recommend the following sizes based on how frequently you would like to make your backups:
- Nightly - Equal to the size of the Primary Harddisk
- Nightly + Weekly - At least 2x the size of the Primary Harddisk
- Nightly + Weekly + Monthly - At Least 3x the size of Primary Hardisk
A Hostname is an easy way to identify your server on the network instead of referring to it via the IP address. Example hostnames are like:
myserver.domain.com
bamboo.domain.com
rambo.domain.com
saturn.mydomain.com
For example, if you chose a hostname of rambo.domain.com then we would simply refer to your server as "Rambo."
