Slots Available:
Your server's motherboard has a limited number of slots available for RAM.
Each slot can hold one stick of RAM.
RAM is available in either 1 GB, 2 GB or 4 GB sticks.
For example:
If your server only accommodates 2 slots for RAM, the maximum RAM your selected server can hold is up to 8 GB of RAM. This would be 2 Sticks of RAM, each stick containing 4 GB of RAM.
If you need more RAM than this order wizard allows, please try a higher grade of server which will have more available slots.
About The Backup Drive
We strongly recommend usage of a backup hard drive. If your primary hard drive fails it is possible to loose all of your data if you do not keep local copies. While a backup drive does not protect 100% against total data loss,
it is an extremely effective counter-measure.
Whats Included?
Should you elect for a backup drive we will configure your system to make nightly or other scheduled backups for you as part of your purchase (Fully managed service only).
When selecting additional drives to add to a RAID option, all drives must be equal in storage size. You can add 2 to 4 drives in a RAID array. The more drives
that you add to the RAID array, more RAID types will become available to you for your configuration. It is possible to add a 3rd or 4th drive for backup of the data on the RAID array on servers that have 4 drive bays.
The following servers have 2 drive bays. The second drive can be configured in RAID 0 or RAID 1 with the primary drive, (no backup, RAID only), or used
as a backup of the primary drive (with backup, but no RAID), or used for additional storage with no backup and no RAID.
Intel Package I - 1 Month
Intel Package II - 1 Month
The following servers have 4 drive bays. The additional drives can be configured in RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, RAID 6, RAID 10 or RAID 0+1 with the primary drive. They can also be used for additional storage, for backup of the primary drive, for backup of the RAID array, entirely for RAID, or any combination of the above.

You might choose the additional storage option if you do not require RAID, or a standalone backup drive for your server, or if you want to use the extra drive for a 3rd party backup system. You could also use it if you want to store data on the server that can easily be replaced in the event of a drive failure. Generally, this option would only be chosen if you have another dedicated server, or multiple dedicated servers that will contain the same data as this server. For example, a cluster of servers that have data replicated between each other. This option is generally only chosen for advanced configurations or configurations where data can be easily replaced by your internal data management policy. This is a useful option for large web sites that have many servers clustered together for redundancy, load balancing, availability, or performance reasons.
5 IPs are included with each dedicated server. You do not need to order additional IPs for each domain that you wish to host, as all domains can share an IP. Example reasons that you might want to order additional IPs is if you require SSL certificates for a particular domain name, or to setup private nameservers. Please note that under current ARIN regulations, SEO is not recognized as a valid reason for allocating more IP space.
Also note that when ordering additional IP Addresses, you are required by ARIN rules to fill out an IP justification form. ARIN rules require that you state the reason for needing additional IP addresses before they can be allocated. We can assist you with this process if you are unfamiliar with it, as part of our managed service.
If you need IP addresses later, you can order them at any time.
PCI Scanning and Assistance Service - What is offered?
If you plan on accepting credit cards on your website, many merchant providers will require that your server be PCI compliant. In most cases if your merchant provider is requesting this, you should consider two dedicated servers, one for your application server, and one for your database server which can be connected on a private network to the application server. Optionally, our Enterprise Cloud Servers can quickly and easily be made PCI compliant, and are often a more affordable alternative to a dedicated server setup.
How far you wish to take your PCI compliance is up to you, from basic scanning compliance all the way to a full-blown PCI certification by an on-site QSA, we will help you to achieve your organization's personal PCI goals.
Our most common support request from our PCI customers is for assistance in passing the automated scans so that they can download their scan results and provide them to their merchant service provider.
We will help you to achieve PCI compliance and assist you with your automated scans for our low monthly rate.
The RAID controller is either a two port or four port controller. We use hardware RAID instead of software RAID for enhanced performance.
The number of ports is determined by the number of drives that your desired RAID configuration requires. For RAID configurations that require three or more hard drives, the four port controller is required. For configurations using two drives, the two port controller can be used.
Exclusive Ksplice Access. Ksplice is no longer available to the general public, but, due to GlowHost's early adoption of the Ksplice project, we are one of a small number of hosts that still have private access to the Ksplice service. This is yet another way that you will find more value by hosting with GlowHost compared to our competition.
Enjoy peace of mind knowing that your kernel is constantly being updated and patched, automatically, all without the need to reboot the system. This is unusual for the Linux kernel as traditional kernel updates always require a reboot and can lead to prolonged downtime. This is one of the best $4.00 that you could ever spend on your system, and is highly recommended.
Because we buy in volume, and have negotiated special deals with our partners, we are able to offer full version cPanel licenses at a highly discounted rate as compared to our competition's prices or to what you could expect to pay when you buy or lease your license directly on the open market.
More value and better price is what we pride ourselves with at GlowHost. We hope you enjoy the savings and our top-notch service.

GlowHost has been around a long time, and we have tried every script installer out there. While many hosts choose to run installers like Fantasico, we are certain after you try it, you will agree that Softaculous blows the doors off of any other script installer available today. There are more scripts, better scripts, and they are updated much faster than any other installer available. The interface is slick and easy to use, and for the price, it can't be beat.

SATA is a high speed alternative to traditional IDE hard drives. In addition to their better performance compared to IDE, the SATA drives that GlowHost uses are server grade hard drives which have higher performance requirements than standard SATA which are made for desktop applications.
SSD is a relatively new technology which offers huge (and human-noticeable) performance gains compared to traditional hard drives. Solid State Drives have no moving parts which increases their longevity, and boot times are often 10-20x faster than a traditional IDE or SATA hard drive system. SSD can be configured in RAID to further increase performance. If you need lightning quick performance, and greater protection against hardware failure, then there is no better alternative to SSD for your dedicated server.

For example, if you chose a hostname of rambo.domain.com then we would simply refer to your server as "Rambo. "Domain.com" and "mydomain.com" as seen in the examples above should be replaced with a real domain that you already own, or plan on registering with us for best server performance as certain server functions require a valid domain in order to work properly. This domain can be a domain that you plan to host on this server as a web site, or it can be a generic domain used only for the server's hostname.
Unmanaged Servers do not come with a free support contract. Because of this, a one-time setup fee is required to cover the costs associated with building, shipping, racking, OS installation and hardware testing after the build is completed. Managed servers do not have setup fees, and include a free support contract.
