I want to put a blog on my site....any suggestions? I've looked into Blogware which is about $9 a month, and Blogger which is free or paid. Is there a company that Glowhost recommends? Thanks! Lisa

Here is what is currently available in Fantastico so far as blogs, but even the CMS (Content Management Systems) could be used for blogging with a bit of tweaking.
Blogs: b2evolution (website) Nucleus (website) pMachine Free (website) WordPress (website) CMS's Drupal (website) Geeklog (website) Joomla! (website) Mambo Open Source (website) PHP-Nuke (website) phpWCMS (website) phpWebSite (website) Post-Nuke (visit site) Siteframe (website) Typo3 (website) Xoops (website) Just make sure if you decide to install these things that if you do not like one or the other, that you UN-install them the same way you installed them. Just click the un-install button in Fantastico. If you decide to keep one or more script package installed on your site, I suggest subscribing to the fantastico updates forum with the daily updates option that way you will be updated when new releases are made available for the script you are running on your site. The forum is NOT going to email you daily, only when a new post arrives (when there is an update available we post) will it email you, and all that option does is make sure you are emailed the same day we post so that you get the message as fast as possible. Running out dated scripts due to forgetfulness or laziness can lead to a hacked site so if you choose to run these things just make sure you keep current and you will be fine.

I use WordPress, and I've been happy with it. It's easy to set up, easy to use -- it's not fancy, but it does a good job.

Sure! Although, given my brain, it won't take long or yield much.
I went into Fantastico, selected WordPress, and, uh, things get pretty fuzzy at that point. I believe I just pulled up a WordPress 'How to Install' file and followed it. I do remember that I had to create a BLOG directory -- tell you what, let me see what's in there and I'll be right back. |
