The 99.5% uptime guarantee link in advanced shared package
actually leads to 99.9% page Web Hosting Money Back Guarantee ? Is 99.5% just a possibilty and in reality it is always better ( say 100 % ) or there is every chance of it becoming around 99.5% ? Can the the professional packages have atleast 10 domains and unlimited subdomains and somewhat more space to start with eg at least 1 gig? Can you not start a scheme like providing as much space required to the professional packages as they start with a low space ( like jaguarpc) ? |

Thanks. I meant suppose I sign up for a PRo of 250 megs space
and I need another 200 in future. Can you give it ( see jaguarpc) without the need to purchase higher accounts ? This is actually a good scheme in the long run for both sides regarding the uptime guarantee I wanted to know 'slightly less uptime' for budget a/cs is always slightly less as a rule or that is just a rare and occasional possibilty |

I am sorry but their deal is bogus. Who is going to use 50 gigs of disk space then request an upgrade? You'll never make it that far. This is the trend in the hosting industry right now and you need to really examine the Terms of Service and AUPs on these hosts that offer more storage than they have available.
This is what comes directly from their TOS: Quote:
Hmm, sound deceptive? It is. An "inode" is a file, or a folder. If you have one folder with 10 html pages in it and 3 images, that is 14 inodes. They cap you on how many inodes you can have. They also tell you that you cannot host MP3 so that blows the whole streaming concept out the window. Oh, by the way, you cannot use the space for storage yada yada yada the same old story with these "unlimited" hosts. What that means is you can host HTML and jpegs only (basically) and you are never, ever, never going to get to 50 gigs before you hit one of their caps and get forced to upgrade to VPS or dedicated. Its a nice marketing technique though. The difference with our hosting is we don't care what you put on your disk. You are paying for it, put whatever you like on it. So the short answer is yes, you would need to upgrade because we are selling actual, usable disk space and not a dream of disk space. Hope it helps.

Here is something on the GlowHost blog that may be a little dated, but it explains this concept in detail and it might be worth a read.
More fun math from the GlowHost blog, regarding a hosting plan we say that was for 250 gigs of space, with a similar TOS. Since it was for a 250 gig plan just divide the figures below by 5 and you will see what it takes to actually use the 50 gigs you were lead to belive you purchased. Quote:
Just remember in this industry 2 old sayings things are almost always true. You get what you pay for If something seems to good to be true, it is

Well, I thought there is some catch but thanks a lot for pointing
these very clearly. I hope this thread will help others too. I understand your policy on providing the right amount of space, and there is no further need to reply to me - only I hope that in near future review of your policies, for Pro accounts you make the minimum space at least 500 mb |
