cPanel 11 had finally been released in the cPanel STABLE branches which is the branch of cPanel that the majority of our users have installed on their servers.
As some of you may have noticed, cPanel has a brand new look and feel. There have been several additions to cPanel to make it a more user-friendly interface, if you have not logged into your cPanel account, please do so and have a look around. If you would like to discuss any of the new parts found inside of your new cPanel control panel, please ask them here!
cPanel 11 introduces a boat-load of new features and many, many back-end improvements (good things for server admins!) and have made many security and performance enhancements.
cPanel hasn't forgotten about the web site owners though....cPanel 11's flagship is the new X3 theme (good for web site owners!) which we have already configured and installed on all shared and reseller accounts.
Some changes to note with the new cPanel 11 installation:
Quote:
A. Spam should be less prevalent than before.
We have configured the mail servers to use Spamcop and Spamhaus RBLs. Spam Assassin has also been configured to reject any email scoring 20 or higher automatically as a server global setting.

B. Any email flagged as spam by Spam Assassin will have the subject line re-written as "***SPAM***"
You can configure at what level your subject lines will be re-written by using the Spam Assassin configuration editor in your new cPanel.

C. Any previous filters you may have had setup to "automatically delete email flagged as spam by Spam Assassin" may no longer function...
The latest version of Spam Assassin installed with cPanel has slightly different email headers. If you would like to automatically delete email flagged as spam by Spam Assassin, we recommend you login to your Spam Assassin configuration editor and click the option to "Auto-Delete Spam" even if it already says "Spam Auto Delete is Enabled" This will make sure the filter is properly added to your account.

D. We have re-enabled the default address manager on a trial basis...
We have done this so that catch-all email addresses can be used again due to the fact that the interface is much more user-friendly and less prone to user misconfiguration. However, GlowHost strongly recommends not using a catch-all email address. We recommend using the email forwarder option to an address on your mail server instead. Off-site forwarders are also not recommended as they can end up blacklisting your account from the ISP you are forwarding the email to.

E. A new File Manager is now included...
However, the legacy file manager is there for those who have grown to love it. The new file manager has a few minor issues which should be resolved very soon, but it looks very promising and is 99% bug-free.

F. Web Disk...
A new feature which allows you to install a network drive on your local computer. Essentially it adds a folder to your desktop so that you can drag-and-drop files to and from your web server. This is a handy little tool for storing documents that you may want to work on at home, then retrieve later at the office, and vice-versa. No need to login to FTP to upload and download your files, with webdisk, simply drag-and-drop!

G. MySQL Database Wizard...
This is a neat little tool to make setting up a database much easier for newbies and old pros will probably like the way this works as well. Much slicker than the old database manager interface.

H. Software Installers...
New software module installers are included which allow you to install Perl modules, PHP Pear modules, as well as Ruby Gems support. Now you can install needed modules without having to contact support.
|
And many more features are included... like customizable cPanel themes, built-in video tutorials, a getting started wizard, improved language support and better "built-in" cPanel documentation.
